The DMC has allowed me a safe place to nurture statewide relationships and to collaborate on new ideas. It's like the hub of State mathematics wheel. It allows mathematics stakeholders across the State the opportunity to share good news, brainstorm and rough draft new ideas, learn about exciting upcoming events to support our teachers, and builds a strong Statewide mathematics community that emulates and produces capacity throughout our districts. When we meet, it's almost like seeing family that you don't get to see that often and can't wait to talk to.

The DMC is a true professional learning community that facilitates meaningful dialogue around math education in the state of Delaware. This collaborative community of districts, and state agencies, aspires to ensure all Delaware students receive high-quality, relevant and equitable instruction. Through its work and high quality meaningful professional learning, the DMC has successfully created a collaborative network of Delaware teacher leaders who, in turn, build math capacity within their districts.

"Being part of the Delaware Math Coalition has given me a network of support to help provide policies and practices that have improved educator quality and K-12 math achievement in our school district. The coalition has given me the tools to truly make a difference in math education.
Michael Kijowski
Caesar Rodney Supervisor of Instruction
I value the opportunity to learn what is happening in K-12 mathematics and share what is happening in higher education. Creating synergy between the two is so important, and the coalition provides the space to make that possible. Through this collaboration, we can make impactful change in the state.

The Appoquinimink School District finds the work of the Delaware Math Coalition invaluable. We currently have approximately 15 teachers in the Leadership Coaching Lab group. Our teachers have found the professional learning most valuable. As a result of the work, the students in our classrooms are learning to take risks (Be Brave), listening to each other, and asking for help to make connections (Be Kind). Not only are our students learning to do this, but our educators are doing this as well. The DMC supports our work by providing professional development to all of our teachers. This has enabled our secondary teachers to receive timely training in the use of our instructional materials. We have also benefitted from the support for our Elementary Lead Teachers, providing them with the foundation to provide valuable professional learning for our teachers. We could not ask for a better thought partner and look forward to our continued work in the years to come.

Appoquinimink Math Instruction Coordinator
The Red Clay Consolidated School District has worked with the Delaware Mathematics Coalition over the years to provide a wonderful leadership opportunity to our elementary mathematics lead teachers. Dr. Val Maxwell and Dr. Jamila Riser empower teacher leaders to learn and grow in a safe and nurturing environment. Through this community, teachers have flourished as mathematics leaders. In the words of one of our elementary lead teachers 'Val and team did a wonderful job bringing math discussions to a new level. I believe it is so beneficial to spend time with colleagues from different schools and different grade levels to improve math instruction." This continues to be one of the strengths of our work as a coalition, that of inspiring and building mathematics leaders, both at the district and state levels.

The Delaware Math Coalition (DMC) has brought exceptional insight to being a leader in the math content area for me personally. The DMC offers excellent professional learning opportunities and resources for teachers and coaches to grow in their means of reflecting, committing, and taking action in their respective classrooms and buildings. I believe in the power of the DMC to provide thoughtful and collective support to Delaware schools through its efforts with teachers and school or district leaders to enhance student learning in mathematics. Our work with and through the DMC is important and valued!

Capital Secondary Supervisor

Working with the DMC has been fantastic for our school. Their staff is amazing. Even more importantly than them being math education experts, my teachers actually like all of them and want to spend more time working with them.
