Marie Peters has been involved in education for the last forty years.  After earning her degree in Industrial Administration (Management Information Systems) at Iowa State University, she worked there as a computer programmer-analyst and tutored for the athletic department in the evenings.  After moving to the east coast, she then earned her Secondary Mathematics Education certification from Rowan University and Masters in Secondary Mathematics Education from the University of Delaware.  She was a high school mathematics teacher for twenty-five years with the Christina and Brandywine school districts where she also was the department chair, cooperating teacher for student teachers, advisor for several clubs, and started and coached the crew team at Concord High School.  After retiring from the classroom, she worked first as a coach in the ARTC program at the University of Delaware, and then was employed in the Delaware Center for Teacher Education as an Assistant Director, supporting education students as they work to obtain their certifications and degrees.  Throughout her employment at UD she continued to work with student teachers in the secondary mathematics education program as a field instructor and coach during their semesters of student teaching.  She is looking forward to being able to support classroom teachers and their students using high quality instructional materials supported by the latest research on how students learn how to think mathematically as part of the DMC Professional Teaching & Learning Team!
