Delaware Mathematics Coalition

After moving to Delaware twelve years ago, Sarah Ryan joined the Math & Science Educational Resource Center at the University of Delaware, and provided professional development for the Elementary Math Teacher Leadership and Converging Curriculum Projects (two Math Science Partnership grant funded programs). She also served as a provider and planner for the elementary Response to Intervention professional development for mathematics teacher leaders provided by the Delaware Department of Education. In this capacity she developed and helped to present the state’s plan for formative assessment diagnosis and intervention for struggling problem solvers.

In addition to her work in Delaware, Sarah Ryan, worked in New York City as an elementary teacher and at the Bank Street School as a graduate student and a supervisor for teachers in field experiences. Sarah has a wide range of coaching experiences; she currently works in New York City as a teaching coach under the leadership of Lucy West, a widely recognized expert in teacher leadership, coaching, and collaborative practices. In 2014 Sarah co-authored a book for the National Council of Teachers titled
Success from the Start: Your First Years Teaching Elementary Mathematics.

Sarah joined the Delaware Mathematics Coalition’s Professional Teaching & Learning Team six  years ago as a Connector coach for the TRU-Math Project. In this capacity, Sarah helped facilitate PLCs in partnership schools and conducted video analysis lesson study cycles with teachers and coaches in the project. She currently serves as a Connector for teachers in the Transforming & Understanding Professional Learning (TUPL) National Science Foundation Project.
